Is your Diet Causing Tinnitus?
What's your diet like?
Do you feel like you eat pretty well?
Did you know that your diet is directly related to tinnitus? You may have heard your hearing professional or doctor tell you to watch your diet... but what does that mean? If you're like many people you're totally confused about what to eat today. In fact, we are so busy that oftentimes eating well is an afterthought. Or the things that we are eating and have been told are healthy, are in fact, not healthy.
I know what you are thinking... there's so much information out there, how can you know what to believe and what not to believe? I've been there. Information overload... leads to analysis paralysis, as I like to say. Can I ask you… how dedicated are you to resolving your tinnitus? Because if you are truly committed, you can reduce it, if not resolve it completely. But what I am telling you is there is no easy button. If you have noticed, everyone has tried easy buttons and they're frustrated as all get out.
OK, so this brings me to the point of my post... YEAST/ CANDIDA.
Four clients alone this week have had this underlying issue. Super easy to resolve, with some dedication.
Honestly, I am shocked the medical professionals and doctors they have seen for treatment haven't encouraged them to change their diet. Of course… healthy client does not equal $$$.
What is candida?
Candida is a fungal or year infection that thrives in the intestinal tract of most individuals. Often invasive, candida can drain energy, disrupt the GI tract, weaken the immune system and overburden the liver. This then leads to hormonal imbalances and mood swings. It even leads to anxiety.
Symptoms of Candida (many more not listed)
• Weight gain • Chronic fatigue • Yeast infections, thrush, athletes’ foot • Erratic menstrual cycles, PMS, fibroids, endometriosis • Depression, anxiety, brain fog • Skin conditions (flaky, red, swollen, smelly, acne, eczema, psoriasis) • Crave sweets • Gas, bloating, intestinal cramps, diarrhea, and constipation • Allergies, chemical sensitivities, • Arthritis and weakened immune system. What causes Candida Overgrowth? • Antibiotics • Stress • Birth Control pills • HRT • High Carb Diet • Sugar • Excessive fruit/ sweets
You suspect you have Candida… What now?
I recommend a diet with no grains, gluten, or sugar for a minimum of 1 month. You can slowly reintroduce foods after this period and see if your body is able to tolerate them.
Supplements can assist your body in reducing the yeast burden. Great supplements to try would include antifungals such as: Caprylex, Berbercap, Anti-MFP, Grapefruit Seed Extract, and Yeast Balance Complex.
Additionally, I would recommend a good quality binder such as activated charcoal, colloidal silver, and bentonite clay.
Probiotics are a great addition. Be sure to rotate what you use every month – including the probiotics.
How does this relate to tinnitus? Yeast causes systemic inflammation in the body. You may even have itchy, red, swollen ears. Your vagus nerve is the longest nerve in the body and runs from your gut to your brain. This nerve is responsible for mood (anxiety), and sensory input, and is directly connected to the ear. If the nerve fiber is irritated or impacted due to candida overgrowth in the gut, this can lead to tinnitus. Be diligent and cut out the junk in your diet – processed foods, sodas, sweetened tea, fruit juices, alcohol, candy, fruit, and high carb foods like bread and pasta. Focus on animal protein and vegetables. Many will see a significant change in just a few weeks.
